How come when I put the video from my Hauppauge HD PVR into an editing software does it take too long to load?

I bought the Hauppauge to film some gameplay of xbox. But when I put the video into my editing software it starts to try and render the background and it takes forever. I never had this problem when I filmed videos that were not in HD. When I would open the files on the editing software of the non hd videos it just opened right up and i could start editing. But the HD for some reason is not. Is there a way to fix this? Please help. Thanks.
