Personally one of the best HDMI cables I’ve found (without what some people perceive as price gouging associated with other premium brands,) is the Belden-based BJC Series-1 or Series-F cables from Blue Jeans Cable.

For the record Belden is one of the world’s largest wire and cable manufacturers with substantial cumulative knowledge and experience in (high performance) cable technology. Belden, while not the only well known brand name, is one of the most highly respected names in the professional video and broadcasting industries, with a long and well proven track record. They also have a great deal of expertise in producing high performance, high data rate, high bandwidth cabling (such as state-of-the-art 10GbE cabling); which translates well to the very demanding requirements of the High-Definition Multimedia Interface and 1080p/60 high definition video signals.

Same as any other device. It uses the same cables, HDMI or other. The signal doesn’t care what type of wires you use or the quality of them as long as the signal doesn’t lose too many 1′s and 0′s and electrons don’t travel faster or stronger, they go the speed of light and line up one behind the other for infinity.

Electrons only need ‘one lane’. A huge cable won’t help and the conductor metal matters only for durability and thermal issues (which don’t factor here at all).

HDMI is only a style of connecting devices without a lot of separate cables for audio and component video. In this case it’s digital not like good old RCA or S-video cables.

They have tried to make this simpler and unfortunately all the old hoo-hah has stuck in the minds of the public.
