If a dvd player has HD Upconversion, will it play an HDDVD?

i have to get a new dvd player. My friend got me a movie on an hd dvd. so if the dvd player has the hd upconversion, will it play the dvd?

No the upconverting dvd player will make your "Standard DVDs" look better on the HDTV. If you have an HD DVD then you need to buy an HD DVD Player, which I would recommend instead you buy a blu-ray because the HD DVD Players are obsolete.

No, it simply increases the Pixel ratio, although unfortunately HDDVD is now dead technology (Atleast in Australia) and you can’t but HDDVD players in stores now. There may be some on Ebay, Amazon or other sites so if you really want to watch HDDVD’s I recommend getting one off there.
