Im getting a hd lcd tv but I was curious about the hd dvd players?

What all do I need to watch dvds in high def..as far as cables and such or is the dvd player alone enough. Also what is a good surround sound system and can I use any surround sound with any high def dvd player?

You need an HDMI cable, which will send the video signal from your DVD player to the TV.

A good surround system depends on your budget. If you only have a few hundred dollars, an Onkyo or Yamaha home theater in a box. In order to use the HD DVD specific surround sound format (Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD), your receiver will need to support it. Otherwise, the HD DVD will certainly take advantage of 5.1 Dolby Digital or DTS that your receiver undoubtedly supports.

you will need a high def or blu ray player to watch true hd on dvd.you can buy one of these upconverting dvd players but in my oppinion there a bit of a fiddle because hd tvs upscale the picture anyway.toshiba hd e1 dvd has come down to about £179 with free delivery check it out in a search.you will need hdmi or component cables.
