Amen brother. Helped a buddy setup his Apple Tv last night, uggg. We couldnt watch any DL’d movies without syncing and converting to itunes. The only redeeming feature is the interface, thats really it.
Thank you very much you answered my question!!!!!!!!!!!!
You have to flash it with a special firmware in order to make it play .mkv files with DST sound via HDMI. But it’s easy. It is a extremely slow hardware though. Get the A-200 instead.
Boring. Show something instead of just talking
DONT buy a Popcorn Hour C200 Device. Its Slow; it crashs and the online support is nothing than a big joke.
this device is called networked media tank. the network is not even CLOSE to normal gigabit standard speed; if you install the nmt apps the whole system freezes. you want? to download stuff via nzbget with your normal download speed? ? forgett it. its capped to ridicilous 1000kb/s.
DONT BUY THIS PIECE OF CRAP!
“iTunes would just simply not allow you to put video that most of the world are using”
Translation, you can’t simply download Xvid, MKV from bittorrent (the pirate bay) and put it in Apple TV!
Popcorn hour sux.
thanks for the video – I was wondering if you can play itunes tv shows on the popcorn TV (ie. If I buy a “seasons pass” to a show from itunes will they play on popcorn TV)
no, the popcorn c200 does not support RMVB/ RM files. It’s suck, AC Ryan , and MED500X are the better choice. And it has a cheaper price.
Will Apple be upgrading the apple tv anytime soon ?
They’ve done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time
Dave’s right – Popcorn Hour is definitely better then the ATV (provided that you use it WITHOUT an internal hard-drive and kill background noise). The GUI is not superior – but it plays nearly everything you through at it which, as a partical concern, is more important. I’ve encountered problems with certain audio Codecs, but nothing that can’t be surmounted. 8/10 for the popcorn, 6/10 for the ATV, 6/10 for the XBMC (which can’t play HD content, if you’re using an Xbox).

hey are you ireish?
you sound dublinese?
torrent give the gift of bluray rips
large files but with a good connection and plenty of seeds you’re sorted
Personally I dont know anywhere else I can download TV shows from (legally) than iTunes, So the Apple TV is great for me. Oh and you cant beat renting movies off iTunes.
Of course all this depends on where you live, I don’t you get much iTunes content in Ireland!
hahaha it can convert Weapons of Mass Destruction(WMD)!?!?!
I have had them both and I still like my apple tv
dave you really need an intro video!
I think the biggest problem with Apple TV is if you live outside of the U.S. you get naff all content for it. Here in the UK we have the second largest selection but it’s still a way to go before it offers what our cousins over the pond get. Damn thee! I’m looking at getting a Mac Mini to stick in the front room for my parents to use so they don’t have to wear out the DVD player to listen to CD’s haha. Plus it’s a computer too so they can surf the net from the sofa.
its like a slingbox as you can connect to it from anywhere.
One thing I can’t figure out is why you have to do these video’s 4 or more times. For a guy who edits videos for a living, you think you would do some simple editing so you don’t keep wasting time refilming everything over and over.
ha you said wounder full piece of kid.
popcorn hour sucks
apple tv is the best
