We have an HD box for our Dish network and currently have an HD ready TV- the TV crapped out and we are ?

looking at getting a new either Plasma or LCD 46 inch TV. Anyway will the HD converter box work with a Full HD TV? Also- we are thinking of dumping the HD upgrade on our service- With the new plasmas and LCD’s how is the picture quality with out it (the HD subscription) ?
