HD READY refers to any tv that is capable of displaying a high-definition signal at either 720p,1080i, or 1080p using a componet video cord or a digital input and does not have a built in HD-capable tuner. FULL HD is also refered to as full high definition 1080p, ultra-hd , or true HDTV. it is considered to surpass the video quality of the original HDTV’s.(HD READY)

HD ready may not do 1080p or even 1080i resolutions. They also may not even have HD tuners in them.

HD ready means it is capable of the new HD broadcast programs and 1080 is the resolution which means your picture will be more defined and clearer.

"HD Ready" was a common standard before actual HD televisions became affordable. It generally means it will work with 720p and that’s about it. They typically display an aspect ratio of 4:3 just like the old TV’s. I would not suggest purchasing one ever.

HD 1080p will display a picture with 1080 horizontal scan lines in a 16:9 aspect ratio and refresh them progressively (1,2,3 etc..)
The inferior 1080i or any other number with an i after it will use interlaced refresh (1,3,5,7 etc…). You will definitely notice the superiority of progressive scan while watching sports, or anything else that captures a lot of movement, especially camera movement.
